Photoflow for Mac Is a Beautiful Desktop Client for Instagram

OS X: If you’re an Instagram fanatic, love following photographers, researching hashtags and photos in your area, or simply have a lot of friends or followers on the service, Photoflow for Mac might be worth the price. You get most of the functionality of a mobile app or website, plus some extras that you might not expect.

First of all, it’s important to note that third-party Instagram clients generally can’t upload images to the service, so if you’re looking for a solution to get around this limitation, it isn’t here. Second, Photoflow costs five bucks on the Mac app store. For some people and heavy users, it’s more than worth it, but more casual users may not want to give up money when they can just reach for their phones.

If you ditch the money, you get a ton of additional features like support for multiple accounts and streams, extensive search tools that let you view hashtags, locations, trends, and more. You also get desktop notifications for likes, comments, and new photos, an interface that works with mouse and trackpad gestures, and the ability to zoom in on photos and videos by opening them or simply expanding the window. The app even has a built-in video player for in-stream videos. If you’re curious, check it out below – it really does require OS X Yosemite, so make sure you have the latest version before installing.
