Keep the Nail Polish on the Skin With Elmer’s Glue
Painting your nails can be challenging; you always get skin polish. Make it easier and less messy by using Elmer’s plain old glue to scoop up excess polish and remove it from your skin when it’s completely dry. Your skin stays clean and your nails look good.
You will need Elmer’s glue, nail polish, an old makeup brush, and a cuticle stick. Choose a brush that you don’t mind ruining because it will have glue on it. When you have everything you need, you only need to follow a few steps:
- Use a paintbrush to apply glue to your finger, around each nail. Do not make the glue layer too thick, otherwise it will dry out after a while.
- Paint your nails with any polish of your choice.
- Wait for it to dry, then use a cuticle stick to start peeling off the glue (and any excess polish applied on top of it). Once you start using the stick, you can remove any glue residue with your fingers.
- Use a cuticle stick to scrape off any remaining dried glue from the edges of your nails.
This trick is especially useful when you are painting your dominant hand, as it is usually much more difficult to apply polish to the nail alone. Watch this technique in action by watching the video above (warning: it is out of focus in some places).
