Use Slow-Sautéed Shallots for Creamier Salad Dressings

A rich, creamy dressing will make any salad taste better. Cream up your next dressing by adding something you might not have thought of: fried shallots.

Plus, because fried shallots naturally contain oil, you don’t need to add oil to your dressing. Brush the shallots (with the skin) with oil, then bake at 425 degrees (218 degrees C) for 40-50 minutes. When they are cool, remove the skins and combine the shallots with the rest of the dressing ingredients in a blender. The result is a delicious, creamy dressing that can be enjoyed with almost any salad.
