Tender Cheap Steaks by Evaluating Them Before Grilling

There are many interesting ways to cook the perfect steak , but if you are using a cutout like a hanger or long fiber side, you can make it more tender with quick scoring.

Some steaks end up tender and juicy no matter what, but Good Housekeeping’s Sherri Rudjikarn has a great trick to add delicious flavor to even the cheapest cuts: slicing the meat. Take a sharp knife and make shallow cuts across the grain to one side, and then make perpendicular cuts to the other side. You only need to cut about 1/8 of an inch deep, so don’t go too far. Then season the steak as usual and grill. Your steak will cook more evenly and will be more flavorful because the chopped portions will be filled with seasonings that browse nicely.
