Use Old Sneakers to Extend the Life of Your Sandpaper
Sandpaper isn’t cheap. Here’s a way to prolong its use as well as dispose of your worn out shoes.
The sandpaper can become clogged after several passes through the wood, rendering it ineffective. Serious wood craftsmen buy abrasive sticks for cleaning dirty belt, disc, and sanders. But if you don’t have one on hand, you can use the sole of your old sneaker to clean your sanders.
With the sander running, gently rub the rubber soles of your shoes against the sandpaper with broad strokes. One or two passes will make your sandpaper look almost new again. Watch the video to see the trick in action.
