How to Get Rid of the OneDrive Icon in Windows 10 File Explorer
As with previous versions of Windows, File Explorer has a OneDrive icon that takes up a lot of space on the left sidebar. If you’re not using OneDrive, you can remove this icon with a simple registry tweak.
We went over how to do this in Windows 8 in detail, but the registry key was changed in 10, so here are the new instructions. Remember, this will not remove OneDrive from the system, it will just hide it in the sidebar of File Explorer.
- Press Win + R and type
regedit
to open the Registry Editor. - Go to the registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}
. - Double click
System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree
change its value from1
to0
. - Log out or restart your computer. When you open File Explorer, the OneDrive entry should disappear from the list.
As we mentioned earlier, you can also remove quick access through the registry and homegroup through services if you don’t need them either. Enjoy your cleaner, more comfortable sidebar!
