Bury the Cooler in the Sand to Keep the Beach Food and Drinks Cool
A beach picnic is always fun, but a cooler full of snacks can keep you warm in the sun. Keep food and drinks cold a little more by burying the cooler in the sand.
This advice comes from The Kitchn, where they suggest:
Submerging the cooler in sand helps provide additional insulation so that the cooler does its job more efficiently. Find a shady spot if possible, or use an umbrella over the cooler, or throw blankets or towels that you don’t use over the cooler. All this will help keep the refrigerator cooler than if you just left it on the sand under the scorching sun.
Of course, you only want to bury it partially so that you can still open and close the lid (and prevent too much sand from getting into the cooler). And you probably want to fill that hole before packing up and leaving, otherwise it could be dangerous for other beach lovers. Check out the original post at the link below.
