Create an Indoor Garden Monitor to Check Lighting and Soil Conditions
This Arduino-based monitor lets you know if your houseplants are getting enough water and light if you don’t have a special green finger. And even if you don’t need the help of gardeners, this is a great little Arduino project.
Leaf Light by Instructables user knsievert uses soil moisture and light sensors connected to an Arduino so you know when your plants need more water or a spot closer to a window. It alerts you with a multi-colored LED / NeoPixel that glows in different colors depending on what it detects. Green means everything is fine, blue means your plant needs water, orange when your plant needs more light, and red when it needs light and water. You will need a few components and a small amount of soldering, but that kind of patience will not be enough for a beginner.
