Add a Pinch of Salt to Fruit for a More Fruity Flavor

Fruits may seem like an odd food to add salt, but in fact, they can bring out the taste and aroma of fruits, and reduce bitterness in unripe fruits or bitter foods like grapefruit.

A little salt is enough to get a fruity taste. As the Tasting Table points out, this flavor concept is also behind practices like wrapping the melon in salted prosciutto slices.
