Thursday May Be the Best Day to Start New Habits.
To start new habits, you need to find momentum and maintain it. Thursday might be the perfect day for this.
The best time to start a new habit is as soon as you have the drive, but finding that drive is not easy for some. That’s why Fast Company’s Laura Vanderkam suggests pushing for new habits on Thursdays:
By then, the work week tends to slow down … Fewer things start, so you can focus your energy and focus on your new routine. You walk around lunchtime with fewer competing priorities. Friday allows you to repeat the routine, reinforcing it, again with little distraction. Then over the weekend, you can rate (or continue if you like).
Plus, when a bunch of new things come to you at the beginning of the week, your habit is not included. This is not new because you have been doing this for several days now. By the time Monday rolls around, this habit is starting to take hold and become something that you just do. Of course, if you’re not working on a regular work week Monday through Friday, just start with whichever option you have for Thursday. Getting started is always the hardest part, so why not give yourself the best chances?
