Chop the Garlic Quickly With an Egg Cutter
By shaking off the peel from the cloves of garlic , you can quickly chop them immediately without using a knife. Grab an egg cutter for the job.
This advice comes from the resourceful Alton Brown. However, you may need a heavy duty egg cutter to deal with this trick, as cheaper devices with weaker wires may not cut the garlic.
You can also cut up mushrooms and strawberries with the tool, so an egg cutter is not a versatile assistant.
