This Template Makes It Easy to Familiarize Yourself With Emails
Networking is an important part of developing your career, but talking to a stranger can be intimidating. Muse offers this simple template to make things less awkward.
It’s hard to ask someone you don’t know for help, even if it’s only going to work their brain for a few minutes. You may not know what to say or how to ask. Everything in this template is short and to the point, but not impersonal. Aja Frost by Muse offers:
Dear [name],
My name is [your name] and I am [position] and I work at [your place]. I am reaching out to you because [the reason you want to talk to this person]. I would like to know more about [two or three things you would like to know from this person].
I’m sure you’re busy, so we’ll be grateful even for 20 minutes.
Many thanks,
[Your name]
You can customize the template to match your own voice, but there are important elements: who you are, why you are connecting with this person, and what exactly do you ask of him.
