What Apple Music Likes Really Do
If you’ve used services like Pandora before, Apple Music’s like (hearts) system is pretty confusing because they don’t actually affect playlists. On The Loop, they look exactly at what they are doing.
Most of Apple Music’s sales are hand-picked radio stations that are run by people. So these likes don’t really affect anything and don’t tune the radio station to your preference, because it’s not just an algorithm. However, it changes the For You section. When you like an album or song, it will affect what you show in the For You tab and hopefully recommend something new to check out. In this tab, you can also delete things. Just press and hold an album, then select “I don’t like this suggestion.”
However, if you run a station based on a group, it will work a little differently:
Clicking on the star gives you the option “Play more this way” or “Play less this way”. These choices can be made for each station without worrying about your overall enjoyment of a particular song or group.
Apple Music systems are a little confusing , but hopefully it makes sense to a similar system. Go to Loop for more details.
