This YouTube video by Daniel Fischer demonstrates how a simple technique used by golfers to check the balance of a golf ball can be used on your dice as well. Take a cup, fill it with 1/3 cup room temperature water and add about six tablespoons of salt. Roll the dice and twirl it in the water. If your die continues to stop with the same number facing up, something inside the die is making it unbalanced. The reason may be a manufacturing defect or even a cheap filling used by some dice manufacturers. If you want to avoid unbalanced dice in the future, clear the dice so that it is easier to spot any imperfections.
