Add Recent Apps Folder to Dock Using Terminal Command

If you tend to use a lot of different apps, it’s a good idea to have an up-to-date list of the most recently used apps. iMore points to a nifty terminal command that adds a recently used menu to your dock for easy access.

All you have to do is open Terminal (Applications> Utilities) and type:

 by default write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add '{"tile-data" = {"list-type" = 1;}; "tile-type" = "recent-tiles";} '; killall dock

The dock will close and restart, and you will see a new stack of items with recently used apps. You can also right-click to view recently used documents, servers, or volumes.
