Best Movie Show App for Android
Most of us know how useful IMDb is for getting information about movies, but few probably think of it as their own session schedule viewer. However, in our experience, this is the best app for going to the theater. You can use it to buy tickets when you’re ready to go to the theater, as well as to find movies that haven’t come out yet.

Where is it best
IMDb is already a staple of film research. If you’ve ever asked, “Wait, where else is he?” you probably used IMDb to find it. It may already be installed on your phone. While its primary purpose is not movie tickets (and the app was not very good in the past), IMDb now has great movie listing features. You can set a list of your favorite cinemas, get screenings based on movies, cinemas or what’s available in a specific time range, and even set up notifications for movies that aren’t out yet. You can also buy tickets through the app. This service is based on our previous Fandango recommendation, so you can get the best of both worlds.
Of course, one of the best things about IMDb is that it’s still useful when you’re not going to the cinema. As Bloomberg points out, more than half of all moviegoers are now frequent fans who visit the theater once a month or more, which means that you are either a superfan who will probably be looking for movie facts in between screenings, or you don’t go. there. movies often enough to download a whole application for that. In both cases, IMDb justifies the need to take up space on your phone.
Where it fails
IMDb is not just a movie scheduling app, so if you only want one feature from your app, IMDb can get a little frustrating. That being said, the “Schedule Sessions and Tickets Near You” button is on the first screen that you see when you launch the application, so it’s not hard to find what you need.
Other than that, there is very little that other showtime applications can do that IMDb cannot. The more important question – Do you need all those extra features. If you tend to look for actors or information on movies that don’t regularly hit theaters, IMDb will be useful regardless of your Friday night plans. If you only care about movies every six months or so, you might be better off buying something from a competitor.
Competition
There are a number of apps that you can use to check movie times, but there is one you already have on your Android phone: Google . While Google search results for movie listings used to be below average , the current version automatically detects your location, shows you the movie listings you want (or which movies are available if you don’t list them), and provides quick links to buy tickets. with Fandango. If you don’t want to, you don’t need to install any applications other than the one that came with your phone.
If you want a dedicated movie watching app and nothing else, Fandango (free) is still a great choice. It goes straight to what’s on now, you can save your favorite cinemas for later and buy tickets right from the app. All other ticketing systems are powered by Fandango, so why not skip the middleman? The only downside to Fandango is that the company has two separate apps for phones and tablets, the latter being updated much less frequently and using an older version of the interface.
Flixster’s Movies (free) are also a good option. The interface is a little less attractive, which sucks when you’re dealing with a visually intense medium like movies, but functionally it’s okay. You can create lists of movies you want to watch, rate watched and even find movies you want to watch on Netflix. It’s also the only ticketing service we’ve discussed that isn’t supported by Fandango, so if you don’t want to buy from Fandango for any reason, Flixster is probably for you.
