Contemporary Desk
Flickr user Greg put together this desktop using Windows 7, combining some of the things we love about flat design in Windows 8 with a little depth elsewhere and some well-placed, very useful widgets. This is how he arranged it.
This desktop is pretty simple and the parts are quite interchangeable so absolutely nothing is required if you see a part of it that you are not particularly interested in. If you want the same look and feel, here’s what you need for it all:
- Galaxy Wallpaper by PerfectHue
- Tool setting and monitoring system for Rainmeter for Windows
- CircuitousTwo theme for Rainmeter for circular shells at the top left and right corners of the screen.
- La Compagnie des Ombres skin for Rainmeter for media player / renderer
- Arrow Launcher Skin for Rainmeter to create a launcher in the bottom right corner (hidden, you have to click the up arrow to see it)
- Iron Launch Skin for Rainmeter to create a central app launcher at the bottom of the screen.
- Android theme for Rainmeter to create google search bar
- Soul Skin for Rainmeter to create a text launcher on the left side of the screen.
- Set of icons Metro Uinvert Dock for icons in the bar run
- White Windows Start Orb replacing the Start button
Lots of moving parts, but that’s all it takes! Greg also switched the default Windows 7 Aero theme to the darkest setting, which we think is appropriate given everything else that’s going on here. The best thing about this customization is that it works for him, but if you want something different or think he’s too busy, you can always take or leave the skins and themes you like to create your own customization – it depends. from you. …
If you like the way it looks, or have questions about how to make it look right, head over to Greg’s Flickr page (link below) to ask your questions or praise. Let him know we sent you!
