Keep Strawberries Fresher for Longer by Following These Three Simple Rules
Strawberries are a very soft fruit, and they can also go bad quickly if you’re not careful. To get the longest possible shelf life from your strawberries, simply follow these guidelines.
Whether you want to save them for a recipe in the future, or plan to eat them as soon as you get home, The Kitchen’s Kelly Dunn recommends following this strawberry protocol:
- Just wash your strawberries before eating; they will absorb moisture and become soft or even moldy.
- Leave on stems: Keep them on for as long as possible.
- Remove Moldy Berries: If you notice one berry growing moldy, toss it to prevent mold from spreading.
These three rules will significantly increase the shelf life of your strawberries, but if you don’t plan on eating them for the next week or so, put them in the freezer. To find out more about where to store strawberries, see the link below.
