Save Burnt Rice From Junk by Making This Simple Soup

A great way to cut down on kitchen waste is to find smart alternative ways to use your food , and burnt rice (if you’ve ever burned rice) is no exception. The next time you let the rice cook for too long, make this simple burnt rice soup in the bottom of the pot.

All you have to do is scrape the crunchy pieces of rice together (use a shamoji spatula to make this easier) and mix them with hot water or green tea. You can even soak especially tough rice right in the pot by pouring water or tea directly into it. When I make this rice soup, I like to add tofu, seaweed and some miso paste to make it more satisfying (and cook food that turns trash into treasure.) Either way, you end up with a delicious simple soup that uses the “tainted” part your rice.
