Fight Procrastination by Looking at Yourself Face to Face With Discomfort
For many, procrastination is not laziness, but a feeling of discomfort in connection with some aspect of the task at hand. Whatever the reason, it’s best to face your discomfort honestly.
If you get a sense of dread when you have a deadline, hiding from work won’t make it any easier for you. Justin Rosenstein, co-founder of Asana , on his LinkedIn blog invites you to stop hiding and find the true cause of your discomfort:
This is my best way to increase productivity and my most valuable tool for moving from procrastination to targeted action: (1) face-to-face with every problem, (2) honestly explain why it’s awkward, and (3) identify one easy next step. which i can do. take to make progress towards the goal.
Once you know why a task is uncomfortable, your fear becomes a real problem against which you can take real action. All you have to do next is take the simplest first step.
