When Visiting a New Store, Beware of Overspending
Whether it’s a restaurant you’ve never visited or a boutique that just opened in your area, it’s always fun to try new places. But keep in mind that these locations are also easier to overspend.

We spend more money when we are in a new store for us. This is because dopamine – a wonderful wellness drug in our brain – is activated when we experience something new or exciting. (This is one of the reasons we spend more when we are on vacation. We are in a new situation when we open new stores.) So try to go back to the store to buy your opening. You may want to walk into a new store at the start of your shopping trip and then tell yourself that you will return to the store later to complete your purchase. Believe me, the second time it will not be so interesting, and you will make a more reasoned choice.
Overspending is not a problem as long as you stick to your budget or spending plan. But we all find it difficult to succumb to temptation from time to time, and this is a simple tip to remember the next time you’re happy to try a new place.
