WalletHub studied the 150 most populous cities in the United States, analyzing 13 different metrics that affect business owners. Some of these metrics include survival, availability of premises, and how easy it is to get a loan. They grouped these metrics into two categories: resource access and business environment . Survival rates will fall under Business Environment ; funding availability will fall under Access to Resources .

Based on how cities rank in these two categories, they then ranked them overall, and this is what they concluded.
