Self-Repair Broken Blinds With a Screwdriver

A common occurrence in homes in Florida, Hawaii and the south, glass shutters provide excellent ventilation, but are prone to damage. Anyone with a screwdriver can repair these windows by purchasing the parts you want.

Most of the blinds were installed in homes over 50 years ago, and many are in need of renovation. Glass can crack, crack or break, and metal fittings are prone to freezing or wear.

Set screws at each end hold the glass panels in place. These screws can be removed with a screwdriver and then the broken glass can be removed. The easiest way is also to remove a good piece of glass and bring it to the glass company so they get the exact dimensions for replacement.

Window blind operators, disassembly equipment and fittings can be purchased online or at your local hardware store. These parts can be easily replaced with a screwdriver. Silicone grease is recommended to prevent corrosion and facilitate window movement.
