How to Find the Perfect Lubricant for Any Kind of Sex
I strongly believe that lubricant can be a wonderful addition to any person’s sex life. But choosing a lubricant is like choosing a good wine – there are so many options to pair with the perfect main course. Don’t pick something random from the shelf. Here’s everything you need to know to make the right choice.
Main types of grease
Lubricants are usually classified according to their ingredients. Here are the pros and cons of each type:
- Silicone-based lubricants last the longest and (in my opinion) adhere best to the skin. They are beautiful and silky without any sticky marks. Silicone lubricants are great for anal sex and are safe to use with latex condoms. They can also be used in water, such as in the shower . The downside to durability is that it can sometimes take soap and water to completely remove the silicone-based lubricant from your skin and your sheets. - Water-based lubricants appear to be slightly thinner and slicker. They are very easy to clean. The water-based lubricants are compatible with silicone sex toys and latex condoms. They are too easy to rinse off to be used in the bath or shower, and they are also not suitable for anal sex. Water-based lubricants do not last as long as silicone lubricants and may feel a little tacky, so they may need to be reapplied. I recommend Wicked Aqua , which looks more like a silicone lubricant than a water based lubricant.
- Oil-based lubricants are formulated with coconut and olive oils. They can be a good option for people who are extremely sensitive to chemicals, but should be washed thoroughly to avoid the risk of infection. Also, oils should never be used with latex condoms.
- New lubricants may include flavored lubricants, warming lubricants, so-called “energizing” lubricants, and desensitizing lubricants. I’m not a huge fan of any of these types of lubricants, as I tend to find them overly chemically chemical and awful smelling and / or delicious, but you may find something you like.
