Make a Circular Saw Guide for Perfectly Straight Cuts
Making long, straight and precise cuts with a circular saw can be challenging. Create this simple track attachment to guide your saw, helping you make straight cuts every time.
A circular saw cannot replace a table saw, but this guide provides the same functionality for cutting long boards and sheet materials as a table saw and unloading table. You just need to clamp the guide to the desired width and the circular saw will do the rest.
It is best to build an 8-foot rail and then trim the rail to a shorter length if necessary.
The first cut will be for the fence, which will use the factory (straight) plywood edge, and the second cut will be for the base on which the saw will slide. You can then attach the fence to the base with glue and staples to finish it off. Watch the video above to see it in action.
