“Art Is 99 Percent Robbery”
You’ve probably already heard the saying: ” Good artists borrow, great artists steal .” Another way to look at it: “Art is 99 percent rip-off.”
Steal Like an Artist author Austin Cleon created the image above as one of his newspaper blackout poems. The idea that creativity is mostly remixes of previous ideas and that there is nothing new under the sun may sound grim, but it’s actually quite liberating. Your art and your ideas don’t have to be 100% original (and they probably can’t). After stealing from the best, the one percent you invested in it is enough.
