Prepare for Online Events by Writing Additional Emails Ahead of Time
Networking can be a great opportunity to get on the road to connecting with people, but you don’t want to go blind . Writing follow-up letters to people you hope to interact with prior to the event will help you think through your mission plan.
Additional emails usually come after you’ve met someone, but they can be just as helpful when you use them as a roadmap to an entire event. Robbie Samuels , event planner and networking expert, invites you to write additional emails – without sending them – to the people you plan to meet:
By typing your “was great to meet you” notes before you meet the person, you are giving yourself a rough draft of what you’ll say when you meet face to face. This is especially useful for shy or introverted people: you won’t stutter or try to strike up a conversation because you’ve already thought and written down what you want to discuss.
On top of that, your follow-up emails will be ready to be sent so you won’t forget to contact them later. You probably want to make some changes to make sure you really mention what you said, but at least you have a good to-do list for the people you want to contact.
