Navigator Desktop

Reader salt_and_pepper introduced this beautiful, functional desktop to our desktop showcase. A few widgets on the side and a place to work on the left and you’re done. Here’s how it was done.

This is the first personalized salt_and_pepper desktop, and we’d say it’s a tremendous success. The wallpapers do it, but the Rainmeter widgets selected here are also good choices. Here’s what you’ll need if you want to make it your own.

You don’t have to go as far as customizing the taskbar as salt_and_pepper did, although we can definitely see the black taskbar icons look better with these wallpapers and settings than the standard multicolor ones. If you have any questions or want to know more about how this was set up, go to Kinja’s post on salt_and_pepper (link below) and ask!

Do you have a beautiful and functional desktop to show off? Share with us! Post it to your personal Kinja blog using the Desktop Showcase tag, or add it to our Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr pool . Screenshots must be at least 640×360 in size and include information about what you used, links to wallpapers, skins and themes, and any other important information. If your wonderful desktop catches our attention, you may be on our favorites!
