Navigator Desktop
Reader salt_and_pepper introduced this beautiful, functional desktop to our desktop showcase. A few widgets on the side and a place to work on the left and you’re done. Here’s how it was done.
This is the first personalized salt_and_pepper desktop, and we’d say it’s a tremendous success. The wallpapers do it, but the Rainmeter widgets selected here are also good choices. Here’s what you’ll need if you want to make it your own.

- Tool setting and monitoring system for Rainmeter for Windows
- Enigma skin for Rainmeter for weather, notes section, current playback, volume and cpu monitors
- Rainmeter Elegance 2 Skin for Time and Date
- Omnimo Skin for Rainmeter for Incoming Notification Widget
- Windows 7 Start Button Changer for Customizing the Start Button
- Boxes for grouping icons on the Windows taskbar
- Ecqlipse 2 icon pack for customizing taskbar icons
You don’t have to go as far as customizing the taskbar as salt_and_pepper did, although we can definitely see the black taskbar icons look better with these wallpapers and settings than the standard multicolor ones.
