Clean Spray Paint Nozzles With Paint Thinner Overnight
The nozzles on spray cans clog quite easily, and a clogged nozzle pretty much makes the whole thing useless. A bath of white spirit or paint thinner will make this attachment look like new.
Your spray paint will completely harden if you let the paint dry on the inside and outside of the spray nozzle. Luckily, this tip from This Old House can save you buying a new can:
… remove the attachment and immerse it in a jar of white spirit or paint thinner overnight. Using a sewing needle or tie wire, remove the softened paint from the tiny tube at the bottom of the nozzle; be careful not to enlarge or deform the tube.
If the blockage is really bad, you can glue the nozzle to a can of spray lubricant and spray in short jets until it clears up. If you want to prevent this from happening, just flip the can and spray until it is transparent the next time you finish painting.
