This DIY Monitor Stand and Built-in USB Hub Are Cheap and Easy to Assemble
One trip to IKEA (and maybe ordering Amazon for a USB hub) and this monitor stand can sit on your desk, charge your devices, offer easily accessible USB ports, and make your display a little more ergonomic at the same time. … Here’s what you need to create it.
The parts list for this is pretty short. You will need one LACK white wall shelf ( $ 7 for the one shown above , but if you have multiple monitors, the longer one is available for $ 14 ) and four white RAFFIG moldings . You can probably see where this goes: the ends of the cornices are the legs for the monitor stand, and the LACK is the actual shelf. There is enough free space on the bottom of the handpieces to insert a keyboard or place a USB hub underneath. The project above uses this tiny 4-port model , but you have a variety of options to choose from , many with more ports.
Of course, you don’t have to follow the IKEA route to do this . After all, our very own Whitson Gordon made a monitor stand out of door stops and a shelf very similar to this one from Home Depot for less money, so shop around – you might not get that pearly white look, but whichever option you neither chosen, it will be easy to assemble and add usefulness and ergonomics to your workplace.
