Google’s Trusted Places Disables Your Geofenced Lock Screen

Android: The Smart Lock feature in Android allows you to selectively disable the lock screen based on certain criteria, such as location. A recent update to this feature allows you to set geofencing zones around a location, rather than just typing in a street address.

Part of the problem with the old method that Google used to find the location in Smart Lock is that it could only use the address. So, let’s say you want to set it up to unblock at work, if the address doesn’t match your address, you can still get blocked. The new interface, rolled out as part of the new Google Play services , allows you to assign a geofence instead of an address. While you are in this circle, your phone will be unlocked.

As Android Police notes, some users have already seen this feature activated, but if it was not enabled for you, you can download Play Services 7.3 from the Android Police APK Mirror site here .
