Make Jogging With a Stroller Less of a Hassle With These Tips
A jogging stroller can be a great way for mums and dads to squeeze into a workout without wasting time babysitting. It does take some getting used to, though – and that’s why we love these tips from Runner’s World to improve the experience.
Of course, your child’s safety comes first. Always check to see if he or she is strapped in and follow the age guidelines of the stroller – usually your baby needs to be able to sit on their own (about 6 months old) before they can handle the jolts of the jogging stroller. Also, try the following:
- Don’t compare your pace with a stroller with a pace without, because with a stroller you will always be slower. During your workout, try to improve your running pace.
- Wear less clothing than the weather requires because you will get warm as you run. But with the baby, the opposite is true: dress her warmer than otherwise, because she has the windiest place in the house. (And forget about the blankets – they can get caught on the wheels.)
- Don’t give up on headphones without giving up music: put your phone in a stroller (in a cup holder, if you have one) and listen to music out loud. This way you can hear both the melody and your child’s complaints.
