Start Your Day Off by Doing What You Love

You probably know that checking your email first thing in the morning can be a rude way to get started, but negativity can creep in from other places as well. Make your morning routine 100% positive by doing what you absolutely love every morning.

Your morning routine is important, but it’s easy to get into the habit of checking everything that lets us down. Email makes the day hang over you before it even starts, social media is flooded with people who are complaining about something and news that tell you more bad than good. Medium’s Jason Zook has an alternative. He needs time to do what he loves:

While the coffee is brewing, I grab one of the twelve (no kidding) Calvin and Hobbes books I have … I smile and awaken a sense of happiness by reading a few comics. By the time my coffee ran out, I had spent 10-15 minutes doing only what makes me happy. My day began with a positive – a positive that will shield my armor from the harsh rest of my day. If I had started with negative influences first, the rest of the day would have been an uphill battle to achieve a positive mood.

Therefore, if there is something in your life that always has a positive impact, do it to start your day. It could be something that strains your mind , something that makes you feel healthy, or something that makes you feel like a child again. Start with a positive mood and spend the rest of the day in peace.
