Facebook Launches Standalone Messenger App for Browsers
Facebook has released a new standalone version of its Messenger app for browsers. While it still requires a Facebook account to use the app, it is segregated from the rest of Facebook so that hopefully you don’t get distracted by everything else on Facebook.
The Messenger app is very similar to mobile apps, but more so. You don’t have a ton of in-app chatting options, but you can customize notifications and turn off certain conversations if you need to. As you would expect, you can also send stickers, photos, and emoticons. At the very least, it will distract you from the rest of Facebook when you just want to send a quick email.
