Dashlane Inbox Scan Finds All Passwords You’ve Shared Via Email

Your inbox is filled with confirmation emails and other messages containing one of your passwords, which is bad news if someone gains access to your email. Inbox Scan, a new tool from the creators of Dashlane, searches your email for messages containing passwords and other sensitive information so you can delete them.

You do not need to be a Dashlane user to use this service. Just go to this page , give it access to your Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or Aol inboxes (which Dashlane promises is read-only), and let it scan. It will find all plan text passwords that are in your inbox, as well as other sensitive information such as addresses or phone numbers.

It will show you a bubble cloud with all accounts found, but you can ignore that. You only need to worry about the ones marked in red. After clicking Next, you will receive a PDF report listing all the services and passwords found. It will even tell you which passwords are weak, reused, or cracked in the past, so you can make sure you change them.

If you use your passwords diligently, you probably won’t find too many in Dashlane’s report, but it’s better to play it safe than sorry – I found a couple of weak passwords in my inbox that are still stored in plain text that I didn’t know about. … still in use. Try the link below.
