This Video Explores the Ten Virtues for a Happier, More Fulfilling Life.
Happiness is a subtle thing, but this video from School of Life folks lays out ten simple virtues that, while very simple, are closest to a set of simple “rules” that we’ll live by if we want to. to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
The video above is worth a look, but you can get a single printed copy of all the “advantages of modern life” in PDF format on their web site . The virtues are probably what you’ve heard before: fortitude, empathy, patience, sacrifice, politeness, humor, self-awareness, forgiveness, hope, and confidence. On their own, they seem like oversimplified platitudes, but it is the way each of them is described, and the way the video invites you to implement them in your daily life, that makes them stand out from the others. For example, humor:
Seeing the funny side of situations and yourself doesn’t sound very serious, but it’s an integral part of wisdom, because it’s a sign that a person can benevolently point a finger at the gap between what we want and what life can actually do. give; who we dream to be and who we really are, what we hope other people will be like and what they really are. Like anger, humor arises from frustration, but that frustration is optimally directed. This is one of the best things we can do with sadness.
Others are equally interesting, but still grounded in practical application, without requiring a kind of “let’s all join hands” approach to life. Click Play on the video above to hear them all, or grab this PDF to read them all.
