ARC Welder Allows Developers (and You) to Test Android Apps in Chrome

Chrome: Google is serious about getting Android apps to run natively in Chrome. We are big fans of this idea . Now it gets easier with the release of ARC Welder.

Strictly speaking, ARC Welder was designed as a developer tool, but as we mentioned earlier, packaging Android apps for Chrome is not the hardest thing in the world. It also simplifies much of what was covered in the previous tutorial. As a bonus, when you download ARC Welder, it automatically installs the app runtime required for Android apps to run. This process will work on any platform that Chrome is installed on, including Windows, OS X, Linux, and Chrome OS (obviously).

As with our previous tutorial, there is no guarantee that any app will work (and in fact most that rely on Google Play services probably won’t ). However, if you are a fan of tinkering, this tool is well worth a try. More importantly for everyone, this is an early signal that a lot more Android apps are potentially on the way to Chrome.
