Turn Your Favorite Drink Into a TV Workout
Gym TV can be a welcome distraction, but what if your TV show is a workout? In a drinking game style, you can do exercises based on what you see on the screen. You can invent your own, or use one already made for things like Doctor Who, soccer games, or Game of Thrones.
Before you start, decide what you will do in between triggers. If you have a TV next to the treadmill and extra space nearby, you can walk or jog while watching and then jump off to exercise. If you’re looking in your living room, consider standing up all the time (so you’ll feel weird if you’re not doing anything) and do a few jumps when the story is slow.
Here are some of the games we found:
- Doctor Who workout includes crunches when you hear the Tardis, andV-ups whenever Dalek says, “Destroy!”
- Harry Potter’s workout requires jumping jacks every time the spell is cast and squats when the house scores points.
- This ad workout is a great addition to any TV show and includes lunges for car ads and squats for fast food.
- Super Bowl workout can work for any soccer game (jump jacks to touchdown, Macarena to convert 2 points), although there will be fewer aging rock stars (chicken dance) or wardrobe malfunctions (burpees).
There are dozens of others, including Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother , The Walking Dead, The Lion King, The Big Bang Theory and many, many more.
