This Part-Time Job Provides Solid Health Benefits
Part-time jobs often suck because they don’t include health benefits. Some employers are countering this trend by offering medical, dental and imaging services to attract talented part-time workers.
According to MainStreet, the most famous companies are:
- Starbucks: Offers medical, dental, eye, and prescription coverage.
- UPS: Offers medical, dental, vision, prescription, accident, disability, and long-term and cancer insurance.
- Whole Foods: Offers medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- REI: Offers health and disability insurance with the option of purchasing dental and ophthalmic insurance.
However, these are not all roses. Benefits for part-time workers often pale in comparison to those for full-time workers. They come with higher premiums and less overall coverage, but that’s better than nothing at all.
In addition, most of these companies require you to work there for a period of time before you are eligible for benefits. The duration varies from company to company, but ranges from 90 days to a full year. For a full list of companies offering benefits for part-time employees, see the article below.
