You Can Now Play or Pause Chromecast Videos With Your TV Remote
The Chromecast can do a lot , but until today, you needed a smartphone to control what you were watching. However, if your TV supports HDMI-CEC, you can now use your existing TV remote to play or pause video.
You could turn on your Chromecast with your remote for a while, but a new update is rolling out to Chromecast that lets you play and pause, which is insanely handy. Your TV must have HDMI-CEC support in order to use it, but many of them do support it these days, so if you’re not sure check your TV manual or Google. (This can often be a different name, such as Samsung’s Anynet + or Sony’s Bravia Link.)
