Ask Someone for Their Opinion to Start a Conversation
You don’t need “lines” and “rules” to strike up a conversation with someone, it’s just a great way to help open up. Ask them for recommendations, such as where to eat in the city, favorite place to hang out, watch a movie, or anything that will help them start a conversation – and give you something to hang out with.
Basically, the trick is to give the person the opportunity to respond with their own opinion (since everyone usually has their own opinion on such issues). As a result, they open up for you, you make yourself seem more interesting , and you can even get some really useful information from the conversation.
