How to Get Pricing on Amazon.com Without Shopping on Amazon

Even the most loyal Amazon shopper has moments when it’s unrealistic to wait two days for Prime. Perhaps your Wi-Fi router is dead and you need a replacement now, or you need a dedicated tool for an urgent project. Be that as it may, there are retailers who would happily agree on Amazon pricing at any time.

An important note before we get started: None of these stores will match the prices of items sold by third-party Amazon sellers. This means that the item must be sold directly by Amazon and not by someone else, even if it is labeled “Amazon Done”.

Babies R Us / Toys R Us

The price in both stores will match the Amazon price, but only for in-store purchases, either at the time of purchase, or within 7 days of the date of purchase. According to the Babies R Us / Toys R Us pricing policy , the item on Amazon must be exactly the same, including brand, size, and even color. You must show proof of Amazon’s lower price on your phone or tablet, or print the product page with the price listed on it.

Bath & Beyond Bed

Bath & Beyond will happily match prices for identical items in the Amazon warehouse. They will not be eligible for products marked “limited time”, “limited quantities” or “while stocks last”, which will include deals with gold boxes and items that are clearly out of stock, such as “2 left, order now.” Also, if you have one of the BB&B coupons for 20% off any 1 item, you cannot use it if the prices match. Don’t forget to count, as you can save more with a 20% discount coupon than with a price comparison.

Best buy

Best Buy’s Price Matching Policy was one of the first to include Amazon . If you find that Amazon is selling an identical product for less than Best Buy, please contact customer service and ask for a match. Under Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee, they will then check the price and compare it. Also, be sure to keep your receipt as they will continue to adjust Amazon prices for 15 days after purchase.

Dick’s sporting goods

Since Dick’s “Winning Price Guarantee” policy does not match prices on Amazon, I ventured into my local store and spoke to the manager. I was told that they would indeed match Amazon’s price, unless the price difference was “outrageous.” I asked what was considered “outrageous” and he replied, “About 50% less than Dick’s price.” But if the difference in price was no more than $ 20-25, they would correspond to it. So while this one seems a little higher in the air, it’s always worth trying.

Fry’s electronics

Fry’s website is very vague, so after a quick call to the support representative, I was told that Amazon is indeed an “authorized competitor on the Internet” and they would match their price both online and in store. What’s more, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return your receipt for price adjustments if Amazon’s price is lower than Fry’s. Fry’s will give you back 110% of the difference. If you are negotiating a price with Amazon through the Fry website, you need to call customer service before making a purchase online.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts

While Jo-Ann is clearly not online, it will match Amazon’s price tag for identical items. They ask Amazon for a printed product page with a price tag, not proof on your phone or tablet. They won’t match the post-purchase price if Amazon lowers the price.

Lowe

Lowe’s website doesn’t say anything specific about Amazon price comparisons, but after hearing some chatter online about the opposite, I called my local Lowe’s to inquire. I was immediately told that they would happily accept Amazon pricing (in-store only) for identical items. Just bring evidence of a lower Amazon price and contact customer service and they’ll quickly adjust the price for you.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom’s published policy is vague, so I called customer service. For online purchases, they will cost exactly the same as Amazon. In terms of in-store purchases, the spokesperson said they vary from store to store, but so do most Nordstrom stores. She advised talking to the sales manager if the salesperson said no to you first. This is a fairly new policy, introduced last November, and many lower-level employees have yet to adopt it.

Office warehouse / OfficeMax

While Office Depot and OfficeMax limit you to one price per customer per visit, both retailers will happily agree with Amazon’s price. Just show them the lower price on your smartphone or tablet, or print out the product page. Plus, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to negotiate a price if you find a lower price on Amazon.

Staples

According to the Staples website , all you have to do is show the seller the lower Amazon price on your smartphone or paper, and they will take care of the rest if the item is identical. Make sure you receive the appropriate price at the time of purchase because, unlike some other retailers, you cannot return your receipt later and receive a lower price.

Target

At Target and CityTarget stores, prices for identical items in stock will match Amazon prices. Just show Amazon’s lower price on your phone / tablet, or print the product page with the listed price. In line with the Target Price Negotiation Policy, it is best to contact Guest Support and request a price reconciliation. You have 7 days from the date of the original purchase to request a price comparison and thereafter.

Walmart

Per Walmart’s Pricing Matching Policy , you can request Amazon’s Price Matching directly at the checkout at checkout. They allow one price match per customer per day for an identical product, with the store manager having the final say. You must show proof of a lower price. They will not adjust the price after your purchase if Amazon’s price drops below Walmart’s price.

Bonus tip: hold on to this receipt and watch prices fall

Always keep your receipt as most retailers will have the same price within a certain number of days after purchase. Then use CamelCamelCamel.com to track Amazon price drops – you’ll receive an email notification when the item’s price drops, allowing you to pick up your receipt and get the highest possible refund .
