When you’re a freelancer, bad clients can ruin your life. While it can be tempting to retain a client simply because you have one, if you throw away your best work, you can hurt yourself in the long run.
Seasoned designer Aaron Draplin explains that bad customers are never satisfied. To some extent, this is the nature of freelancing, but if you give up your best work with clients with whom you cannot agree, it can make your situation worse. The work done that represents you is inadequate and you have less time for clients who might be better suited:

Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to challenge the first time you disagree with a client. And be honest with yourself. If you turned in a shitty job, don’t be discouraged when a client thinks it’s shit. But if you did your best and she still doesn’t get approval, just don’t team up with that client for a repeat business. Complete your responsibilities with the client, and then move on to those that may suit you best.
