Bend PVC Pipe 45 Degrees Without Damaging or Kinking
Working with PVC pipes in confined spaces and around plumbing structures can be difficult. If you just need to make a simple bend, you can do it without using elbows or fittings.
The hair dryer provides enough heat to cause the PVC pipe to bend, but it can easily cause the pipe to bend. The secret ingredient to preventing this kink is to tape one end of the pipe and then fill the pipe with sand to the point where you want to bend. The sand will prevent the pipe from kinking and create a nice, smooth transition.
This video demonstrates how easy the process is, and even shows you how to make multiple bends of the same pipe. The pipe used in this example is 3/4 “, so we would be curious to see how well this trick works with 1-2” PVC pipe.
