Most Popular Audiobook Service: Audible

Finding time to listen to audiobooks is easy – almost as easy as finding great audiobooks to listen to. Last week we asked your favorites , then looked at the top five audiobook services and put them to a vote. It’s time to highlight your favorite.

Unsurprisingly, the winner in this category won. Audible , an Amazon company, took first place by a wide margin with over 70% of the vote. This is not surprising – many of you noted that you didn’t even know there were other reliable audiobook services out there – although some of you said you were happy to check out the alternatives.

Second place went to another predictable contender, OverDrive , a service that lets you check out audiobooks from the public library for free using only your library card and an internet-connected device. He got about 20% of the vote. As a result, all three of the remaining contenders fought for the last 10% – and Scribd , often known as a service that makes it easier to embed documents on the Internet, came in third with 5% of the total votes. The selection of audiobooks is quite extensive and the prices are competitive compared to others. Hoopla Digital , another service that offers free audiobooks to libraries and other public institutions (and allows them to receive them for free), came in fourth with 2.4% of the vote, followed by Downpour , a DRM-like Audible service. -Free audiobooks that you can take anywhere and play on anything with just over 2% of the votes.
