Disguise Thinning Hair by Ditching Products
While thinning hair is certainly not the end of the world, it is annoying. The Wall Street Journal spoke to stylist Diane Schmidtke for some tips on how to disguise them, and one suggestion is to skip hair products altogether.
The best disguise for thinning hair is to minimize light on the scalp and highlight problem areas. For this reason, Schmidtke suggests dropping the product because it just adds more shine:
Ms Schmidtke advises staying away from gels and lipsticks because “they have such a bright shine. When you have shiny products, you will have light reflecting off the product, ”says Ms Schmidtke …
Ms Schmidtke notes that some hair gels can cause clumping and splitting in hair pieces. “This allows light to penetrate the scalp, drawing even more attention to the problem area,” she says.
She also suggests sticking to shorter hairstyles that push your hair forward instead of pulling it back, wash your hair less often, and stay away from the hair dryer’s higher heat settings.
