Best Time to Ask for a Raise

Asking for a rate hike is one of those awkward but necessary things we must do (at least if we think we deserve a raise). Some months are statistically the best time to ask questions, but you can also time your inquiry based on your individual career events.

Human Workplace founder Liz Ryan recommends not only starting a conversation with your boss at least three months before the annual review (by the time your review is released), but also at the beginning. a big project, when you take on a huge new responsibility, when you get a job from another person, or when your boss acknowledges your contribution.

You don’t have to ask for a raise every time your boss gives you a five, of course, or at the start of every big project, but it certainly makes sense to time your request when you’re in the spotlight or your job responsibilities change. … If you’re still unsure, here’s a block diagram .
