“Being an Expert Can Be an Excuse to Stay in Your Comfort Zone.”

You have reached the pinnacle of your field, or have mastered a skill or art that you are proud of. But don’t be relaxed.

The above quote from Futurice is a reminder not to be satisfied with what has already been achieved. Being an expert at something is great, but it can sometimes confuse you if you’re not careful.

Futurice has compiled a series of proverbs similar to the one above, many of which relate to programming (for example, “Elegant, efficient, and efficient code beats any argument” and “Write code available to other programmers. Write code that teaches them”), but others, which can be applied more universally (“Being a generalist may be an excuse not to study deeply”).

From time to time we should step out of our comfort zone .
