KodiLauncher Keeps Kodi From Losing Focus (and Fixes Other Annoyances)

If you have a dedicated Kodi media center , then KodiLauncher (formerly XBMCLauncher) can be your new best friend. It prevents other programs from stealing focus, allows you to customize the Kodi shutdown menu, and more.

KodiLauncher is not a particularly interesting app, and not everyone will need it. But after a recent change to my media center, I found that every time I reboot – or even wake up from sleep – Kodi would automatically minimize. KodiLauncher fixes these and many more focus issues with a little system tweak. It can:

  • Start Kodi on Windows Startup
  • Restart Kodi when Windows wakes from hibernation
  • Make sure Kodi keeps focus even if other apps try to get it (although you can set exceptions for certain apps like external players)
  • Run specific programs when XBMC starts
  • Configure Kodi to act as a shell without loading the Windows desktop in the background
  • Customize Kodi shutdown menu to shutdown, sleep or hibernate
  • Configure your MCE remote to launch XBMC with the big green button

As I said: it’s not exactly appealing, but when you’re dealing with a couple of different programs running in the background – for one reason or another – KodiLauncher is a godsend. It has been around for a while, but we have never shown it before, because until now we have never needed it. Check it out at the link below.

(Note: as written in KodiLauncher of AutoHotkey, many antivirus programs will try to block its installation or quarantine your settings the program The program is completely safe, and you just need to set it for the exception.).
