Budgeting and sticking to it can be emotionally challenging. You may feel limited by the limits of your spending and by something that you cannot afford. Inspire yourself to stick to your budget by thinking about what you can do, not what you cannot.
Focus on spending money on experiences or things that matter to you. Marisa Torrieri on Refinery29 gives a great example:
Maybe you’ve cut back on weekday take-out meals, but allowed yourself a Friday night dinner with your significant other, ending a tough week – weekly spending that has more personal meaning.
She also cautions, if you can, budget for “fun” spending. You will be less likely to spend too much money if you already have funds set aside to cover expenses that may not be very practical but are necessary for your mental or emotional health.
